Workers from the Shanghai Construction Group (SCG) are back on the job at the construction site of a controversial church being built for the Lighthouse of the Lord Jesus Christ.
A report in NEWSDAY quotes villages are saying that Chinese workers who had been transferred from the project have now returned.
Construction was halted temporarily after Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation building inspector Larry Seecharan served a "show cause" notice to an official.
The Corporation moved to stop construction after it found that the $30 million structure did not have approvals from the relevant local and central government authorities.
On February 25, CEO Winifred David said officials would give contractors building the church seven days to explain why they were continuing construction of the building without approval.
“The usual procedure is to give them notice, asking them why the development is continuing...after that there is a process of seven days, if they do not stop the work, we then come back to council and get an order for demolition,” David told local media.
In March David was promoted to CEO of the Port of Spain City Corporation.
The Mayor of Port of Spain said at the time the move from the Tunapuna corporation had nothing to do with the church, which is linked to Juliana Pena, a woman described as a spiritual adviser to Prime Minister Patrick Manning.

Newsday said sources at the Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation told its reporters that work resumed after the corporation received specific instructions not to serve any notices on the church.
