Calder Hart has resigned as the executive chairman of UDeCOTT, the Urban Development Corporation of T&T with immediate effect.
In an official announcement, Hart also announced that he is quitting all other State boards in Trinidad and Tobago.
Hart, who is a Canadian, is reported to have returned to Canada with his family.
Hart had been under intense pressure for his dealings with multi-million-dollar contracts including one that he allegedly gave to a company that had links to his wife, Sherrine. Hart had always denied the allegations.
Earlier this week the Congress of the People (COP) released a report showing a direct family connection between Hart and members of the firm, CH Development, which won a contract to build the government's legal affairs tower in Port of Spain.

On Friday, the opposition tried to get the House of Representatives debate a motion calling for Hart's immediate dismissal and for an investigation based on the new data in the public domain.
But the motion failed when former Opposition Leader Basdeo Panday and Couva South MP abstained when a vote was taken.

Also on Friday, a high court judge rejected an attempt by UDeCOTT to stop the Uff Commission of Inquiry into the construction sector and UDeCOTT from submitting its final report to President George Maxwell Richards.
The report was due on February 28, but was held back until the court ruled on the matter.
The judge said in her view there is no reason why the commission should not deliver its report. She rejected several grounds on which UDeCOTT had applied for the proceedings to be declared illegal.
“There is no reason why they should not proceed to complete and to submit the report of the commission of inquiry to His Excellency,” the judge said.
