File: Acting Commissioner of Police Stephen Williams
Stephen Williams takes charge of the Trinidad & Tobago Police Service (TTPS) Tuesday as acting Commissioner of Police. He will hold the post until January 31, 2013.

Williams takes over from Dwayne Gibbs who resigned 14 months ahead of the end of his contract. One of his three deputies, Jack Ewatski, has also resigned with effect from August 7. Both men are Canadian and were recruited under rules established by the previous government.

On Monday Gibbs and Ewatski said goodbye at a function at Police Headquarters on Monday afternoon. Williams presented Gibbs and Ewatski with Appreciation Plaques. Gibbs thanked Trinidad and Tobago the opportunity to serve.
