No holiday on Sept. 3 for rally for Olympians

Monday September 3, 2012 is not going to be a public holiday. It's the date scheduled for the rally to celebrate the members of the Trinidad & Tobago team that represented the country in the 2012 London Olympics Games.

Communications Minister Jamal Mohammed made that clear Thursday when he spoke with the media during the weekly post cabinet briefing. He was responding to rumours that there would be a repeat of Monday's national holiday, declared to welcome home Gold medalist Keshorn Walcott.

Mohammed said it's going to be business as usual on September 3, the first day of the new school year.

"There is absolutely no truth to that rumour. The 3rd of September would be a normal day. I think it is the reopening of school here in Trinidad and Tobago so it is back to work as normal on the 3rd of September, 2012," Mohammed said.
