Gibbs happy with clean Carnival

Commissioner Gibbs leads officers in a walkabout
Police Commissioner Dwayne Gibbs on Tuesday praised citizens, including those playing mas, for a clean carnival. He also commended members of the TT Police Service for their work in ensuring that everyone was safe.

Gibbs told local media he was impressed by the manner in which revellers and spectators conducted themselves during the two days of carnival.

Gibbs and his senior officers visited San Fernando and Tobago. In both locations he said people were happy with the police presence.

He said the anti-crime initiatives activated since Carnival Friday worked very well.

He singled out officers of the Port-of-Spain CID and Port-of-Spain Division for keeping Monday's J’Ouvert incident free.

He said the vigilance of officers led to the detention of 145 persons with weapons on Carnival Monday.
