It was business as usual Tuesday at the Tunapuna Hindu School although the embattled principal, Sita Gajadharsingh-Nanga, did not report for duty as expected.
Education Minister Dr Tim Gopeesingh helped broker a deal Monday for the school to reopen and for the principal to return to her job while the Teaching Service Commission (TSC) works out the details of her transfer to a government primary school.
The school was closed on Monday because the Education Board of the Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha (SDMS) refused to allow Gajadharsingh-Nanga report for work despite an instruction by the TSC for her to return to work.
Gajadharsingh-Nanga was locked out three weeks ago for allegedly failing to carry out legitimate instructions of the SDMS Board Policy. She countered by saying that she was ordered to refuse admission of black children to the school.
That charge has been laid to rest. In the memorandum of understanding to end the impasse it was stated clearly that there was no such issue at the school.
