Photo story: remembering the sacrifice of those who fought freedoms we enjoy

President Richards lays a wreath at the national memorial park

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar urged citizens on Sunday to reflect on those who have given the ultimate sacrifice and to recognise those who fought to ensure “we enjoy the rights and freedoms that we do.” 

She made the the comment as she joined other national leaders in observance of Memorial Day. 

President George Maxwell-Richards, Persad-Bissessar and National Security Minister Brigadier John Sandy paid wreaths at the Cenotaph, Memorial Park, Port-of-Spain.

The Prime Minister commended the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force and the protective services for continuing to “place the service of others and country in front of themselves.”
