Minister of National Security Brigadier John Sandy told reporters Tuesday a limited State of Emergency exists "in all parts of the country", not just in crime hot spots.
He said it is a misconception that the 9pm-5am curfew only applies to specific areas.

"It means therefore, that those people who are speaking about migrating to other areas, the criminal elements who would want to migrate to other areas in the country, let it be known that the state of emergency exists in the entire country and the powers that have been given to the police and the military exist in all areas in Trinidad and Tobago," the minister said.
Sandy also confirmed that the annual Independence Day Parade will take place next week but the fireworks display has been cancelled to ensure persons are home by 9pm.
He also promised that by the end of Tuesday the government would have established the special tribunal to hear the grievances of persons detained during the limited State of Emergency.
