CFU reports Blazer to Ethics Committee for breach of rules

The Caribbean Football Union (CFU) on Tuesday reported CONCACAF General Secretary Chuck Blazer to FIFA’s Ethics Committee for comments Blazer made at a CONCACAF Caucus Meeting on May 30.

In its letter to FIFA, the CFU said Blazer "made comments of contempt and slander" against members of the CFU. Blazer is alleged to have said that FIFA was investigating members of CFU, including Jamaican Football Federation President, Captain Horace Burrell.

The CFU told the ethics committee neither FIFA nor CONCACAF has informed any of its members that they are under investigation.

The CFU contends that Blazer breached the rules and has asked the Ethics Committee to initiate an investigation to determine if Blazer's actions violated the FIFA Code of Ethics and whether further investigation is necessary.

Blazer is the man who accused FIFA Vice President Jack Warner and Mohamed Bin Hammam of bribing CFU officials during a meeting in Trinidad last month.

The accusation led to an Ethics hearings after which FIFA temporary suspended both men, pending a formal hearing at which they will face their accusers and present a defence.
