Ramadhar enjoys huge lead in COP leadership election: NACTA

A new poll by NACTA suggests that Prakash Ramadhar is way in front of the three other contenders in the Congress of the People (COP) leadership race.

NACTA interviewed 542 people. However not all respondents can vote in the July 3 election, which will be conducted on a one-member, one vote system.
Here's the breakdown based on all respondents:
  • Prakash Ramadhar - 52 per cent
  • Anil Roberts - 20 per cent
  • Vernon De Lima at 14
  • Nalini Dial - 1
The figures for eligible voters are slightly different but still give Ramadhar a runaway lead of 23 percentage pointsm with 47 per cent support. Roberts is second with 24%; De Lima has 12 per cent and Dial is last with one per cent.
The others are either undecided or not sure which candidate they will support.

NACTA also surveyed people about Jack Warner and found that the chairman of the United National Congress still has the overwhelming confidence of his constituents in Chaguanas West despite the the Fifa controversy.
According to NACTA Warner's constituents still consider him the best MP in the history of Trinidad and Tobago. The organisation said 88 per cent of people surveyed in Chaguanas West are pleased with Warner’s representation. That same number said they don't want Warner to step down.

People from outside his constituency also expressed support for Warner for addressing the needs of the people.
