Former Manning Cabinet ministers Mariano Browne and Neil Parsanlal have been nominated unopposed to the PNM Executive. Browne will be treasurer of the party and Parsanlal will hold the post of education officer.
Other unopposed executive members are former Senator Laurel Lezama, who was defeated in Arima in last year's election, and Joycelyn Bodden. Lezama will be the Youth Officer (Female) and Bodden will hold the post of Welfare Officer.
They will be confirmed at the party's convention on march 20.
When nominations closed last Friday two people were on the list for the office of chairman - Franklin Khan, who held the post before he was kicked out by former PNM leader Patrick Manning, and Pennelope Beckles-Robinson.
Diego Martin North East MP Colm Imbert is running for Vice chairman against former minister and former High Commissioner to Canada, Camille Robinson-Regis.
Party stalwart Ashton Forde is running for General Secretary against Foster Cummings. And there are several candidates for the position of Public relations Officer formerly held by Jerry Narace - Faris Al Rawi, Eric Taylor (Pink Panther), Joel Primus, Romando Rampersad and Clayton Blackman.
Former PSA president Jennifer Baptiste-Primus has been nominated for the post of labour relations officer. She is being challenged by two candidates - Andrew Alves and David Taitt.
Unlike the other main political parties in Trinidad and Tobago, the PNM elects its executive through a delegate system. Political leader Dr Keith Rowley's position is not up for election. He has suggested that the PNM should change to a one-member-one-vote system that the other parties follow.
