Jack Warner held an all-day seminar Tuesday for members of the 14 boards that are within the jurisdiction of his Works and Transport Ministry and warned all of them that if they don't perform they would be shown the door.
"Two years is a short time," Warner said in reference to the term for which a state board member is appointed. "So if you believe you performed and you are not performing for the Ministry of Works and Transport, then in two years time do not ask to come back."
Warner also said that members serving on boards must understand their responsibility. "If you think your function is to come on a board to shoo-shoo, to carry news, I don't need you," he said.
The minister asked everyone serving on boards within his ministry to be accountable, exercise good customer service and practice humility in their respective roles. And he made it clear that he will monitor what they are doing.
"When you go to your board meetings, what you discuss there I would hope is important and not only important but private. And I have asked, and the Permanent Secretary has asked, that we get the minutes of these Board Meetings on a regular basis."
