Daniel Guerra's family insists that the child was murdered

Police investigating the death of Daniel Guerra are working on the theory that someone could have kidnapped the child last Friday and thrown him into the Tarouba River, where he drowned.

The result of autopsy done on Tuesday shows that the boy drowned.

Investigators are still trying to find out who picked up Daniel in silver Nissan Almera motor car while the boy was walking near his Gasparillo home last Friday. The rental vehicle said to be the one that picked up Daniel was seized by police and is still impounded.

Police have questioned several men including a police officer from the Mon Repos Police Station, who is assisting with the investigation. They have also interrogated a close relative but so far no one has been charged.

Daniel's grandmother, Shirley Indarsingh has refused to accept that Daniel’s death was accidental. “I don’t know what to say. I know that somebody killed my grandson. He was the light in my house. I cannot take this. I cannot take that he has gone.”

She has also refused to accept the theory that Daniel drowned close to home and the body was washed down river, noting that there is no river close to their home that is linked to the Tarouba River where police found the body on Sunday.

“My grandson did not go to the river on his own. Someone took him there. The police have to find whoever did this,” Shirley said.

She said it is impossible for Daniel to have walked several miles to the river where his body was found.
