Leader of the People's Partnership (PP) coalition Kamla Persad-Bissessar voted early Monday in historic General Elections on Monday in Trinidad & Tobago.
Her coalition is expecting victory in the election, which Prime Minister Patrick Manning called two and a half years ahead of schedule. If the PP wins, Persad-Bissessar would become the country's first female Prime Minister.
Persad-Bissessar voted at the San Francique Hindu School in the Siparia constituency, which she has represented since 1995 when she was first elected to the House of Representatives.
On January 24 she won a landslide victory to become leader of the United National Congress (UNC) and one month later - on February 24 - she became the official leader of the opposition.
