Alleyne pleads guilty to violating Sexual Offences Act

Ian Alleyne
Ian Alleyne pleaded guilty Wednesday to three charges relating to the showing a video a teenager being raped.

Alleyne showed the video on his Crime Watch show and was later charged. The video showed a mentally challenged 13-year-old girl being raped. Alleyne showed the video three times.

He was charged under Section 32:2 of the Sexual Offences Act which makes it an offence to reveal the identity of a rape victim during a broadcast.

The magistrate adjourned the matter to Monday at which time the court would likely pass sentence.

CCN television, which runs the Crime Watch show, faces three similar charges as well as six charges under the Telecommunications Act for alleged breaches of their license.
