THA hires Anslem London as a $60,000 a month consultant

A report in the Newsday newspaper Wednesday states that the Tobago House of Assembly has hired Dr Anselm London as a consultant to the Division of Finance/Enterprise Development THA. The report says London will be paid $60,000 a month to work with the department he headed for 12 years until last month’s THA election.

London is a cousin of THA Chief Secretary Orville London. The paper says the Chief Secretary confirmed that the THA has hired London. “It is not a situation that you doing him any favour,” Newsday quoted the Chief Secretary as saying.

He told the paper $60,000 is not too much, adding that the THA's "expert advice" is that the going industry rate in this circumstance is about some $90,000. However London stated that while the hiring of his cousin as a consultant has been approved it still has to be confirmed by the THA Executive Council.

London told the paper this is not a case of “jobs for the boys” noting that his cousin is very experienced in the field having worked at development banks in Canada and Africa.
