Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar on Thursday extended congratulations to Grenadian Prime Minister Keith Mitchell who made a clean sweep in Tuesday's election, winning all 15 seats.

"Let me extend my congratulations to Dr. the Honourable Keith Mitchell for his definitive victory at the polls in Grenada," she said on her arrival at Piarco International Airport after attending the 24th Inter-Sessional Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM, which took place in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

She also extended condolences to the family of Sergeant Hayden Manwaring who was killed in the line of duty earlier this week.

"I would also like to join the nation in mourning the death of Serjeant Hayden Manwaring, who died in service of our country. Please allow me to extend my deepest condolences to Sergeant Manwaring’s family and his wider Trinidad and Tobago Police Service family," she said.
Persad-Bissesssar also wished Constable Nicholas Phillip a speedy recovery. He was Manwaring's partner and was injured in the incident that claimed Manwaring's life.
"Times like this require our nation to engage in deep reflection," the Prime Minister said. "Our citizens must work together with the police service to put an end to the crime situation."
She added, "The burden of crime affects all of us and therefore it is our collective responsibility to take back our country from the criminals. Crime remains highest on my Government’s agenda, as we seek to ensure safety both locally and regionally."
