People’s Partnership parties reaffirm coalition agreement; ties with coalition partners still strong

PP Leaders: Ashworth Jack (TOP), Makandal Daaga (NJAC), Kamla Persad-Bissessar (UNC) and Prakash Ramadhar (COP)
The leaders of the four parties in the People's Partnership have reaffirmed their commitment to the governing coalition. They also agreed at a meeting on Wednesday that the senior executive of each of the four coalition partners would engage in a leadership meeting of the partnership twice a year.

A media release Friday stated that ties among the coalition partners have been "reinforced and strengthened" following the meeting. It said each party reaffirmed its commitment to maintain its independence while remaining committed to the alliance of the People’s Partnership government under the leadership Kamla Persad-Bissessar.

The released from the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) said the leadership meeting of the partners "validated the unswerving commitment of the leaders of the United National Congress, the Congress of the People, the Tobago Organisation of the People and the National Joint Action Committee to an alliance driven by mutual respect and common goals."

It added that resolutions from the meeting included the convening of a special meeting of the chairmen of the four coalition partners, which would be held before the political leaders of the People’s Partnership meet again.

The partners also agreed that leadership meetings of the partners of the People’s Partnership would be held each month and on a more regular basis "to facilitate and maintain a stronger relationship among members of the alliance."
