London urges Trinidad PNMites to tell Tobagonians of their "pain" under PP administration

File: Orville London: "Don't disobey the Lord."
Orville London kicked off his campaign for the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) election by invoking the divine. "Don't disobey the Lord," the THA Chief Secretary told supporters at Sunday's convention of the opposition People's National Movement (PNM).

And he asked voters to send a message to the governing coalition. "If we don't send a signal in Tobago, we are saying that we condone everything that has transpired in this country over the last 18 months," he declared.

He said he wants Tobagonians to understand what is happening and for citizens of Trinidad and Tobago to know their responsibility.

London suggested a mantra for each PNM person in Trinidad. He urged them to talk with their counterparts in Tobago and "share the pain you are feeling so that they can avoid that pain...many of us across the waters don't understand because we haven't felt it".

He told Trinidad PNMites, "I want you to urge them to reject the politics of spite and vindictiveness and bullying and character assassination."

The Chief Secretary also spoke of the scrutiny he is facing with respect to a $243 million Administrative Complex. "I want to give you the assurance that we are a responsible administration. We are going to ensure that the resources made available to Tobago, we would utilise those resources to the maximise benefits of the people of Tobago," he said.

"And regardless of how much they try to assassinate our character, regardless of how much they try to pillory us, we will continue to do what is right by the people of Tobago."
