UNC youth arm supports PM's decision to fire Volney

The National Youth Arm of the United National Congress said Friday it fully supports Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar's decision to fire Justice Minister Herbert Volney with respect to Clause 34 of the Administration of Justice (Indictable Proceedings) Act.

"We are of the view that this is a signal of an accountable and transparent style of governance and leadership by the Honourable Prime Minister and for that we commend her," the UNC Youth said in a statement by chairman Nicholas Morris.

"This is how a responsible government works unlike when Dr. Rowley pointed out to then Prime Minister Mr. Manning that the PNM was corrupt and Mr. Manning in turn did absolutely nothing," Morris added.

He said the Prime Minister demonstrated that she will not tolerate nonsense and has proved that she always has the best interest of the People of Trinidad and Tobago at heart.

Morris also congratulated the new Justice Minister, Christlyn Moore, and wished her all the best in her new portfolio. "We are confident that she is well able to handle the task at hand," stated Morris.
