The Police Service Commission (PSC) has not found grounds to either remove or initiate disciplinary action against Police Commissioner Dwayne Gibbs and Deputy Commissioner Jack Ewatski, both of whom are Canadians.
The commission stated Thursday that it has sent 13 recommendations to Gibbs, Ewatski and Deputy Commissioner Stephen Williams urging them to take the recommendations "very, very seriously".
The recommendations are to effect significant improvements to the Police Service and also for the top officers to fulfill their obligations to the commission more promptly and efficiently.
“This means that the PSC executed no termination notice nor took any disciplinary action at this time,” the commission said.
It added that the commission has recognised that Gibbs and Ewatski are "relatively new" to the country and stated that the appraisal exercise was used as a "developmental tool" to help the leadership of the Police Service carry out its mandate.
“The PSC will now expect no less and the commissioner and the two deputies have been strongly advised of this," the commission stressed.
