Police raided an area in Beetham gardens, just outside of Port of spain, Monday morning and found five illegal guns that they believe have been used in gang warfare in the area.
Police have now seized 38 illegal firearms since the State of Emergency was declared on August 21.
Reports said 18 officers from the Besson Street CID and Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) found the weapons that were buried. They used metal detectors and sniffer dogs in the search.
The guns included four .38 revolvers and a homemade shotgun. They did not find any ammunition.
Police say they acted on a tip.
