Minister of Works Jack Warner on Wednesday opened a temporary licensing office in Chaguanas.
"It gives me the greatest pleasure this morning to pass the baton and to hand this facility to the Ministry of Transport and to hope that the ten motor vehicle access centres, which had begun to be built under the Ministry of Works and Transport, four this year and six next year; It is my hope that when I pass the baton, these centres are constructed," he said.
The new Transport Minister is Devant Maharaj, who was not present for the event.
Warner handed the keys to office to permanent secretary in the Ministry of Transport Myrna Thompson.
The government invested $350,000 in refurbishing the office on Ramsaran Street. The project was completed in six weeks. A new permanent office has been planned for Carslen Field.
