Fire destroys Trincity factory; No one hurt, 75 out of work

Fire officers on Tuesday battled a huge blaze for several hours at the Thermosplas factory in the Trincity Industrial Estate.

It took nearly 10 hours for the combined efforts of officers five stations to get the fire under control. Fortunately no one was hurt.

The fire fighters focused on containing the blaze to the factory. Police told reporters a warehouse operated by the Customs and Excise Division which houses alcohol and seized vehicles protected from the flames.

The fire destroyed the warehouse and has caused about 75 employees to be out of work. Reports say workers tried to put out the fire when it started but it spread rapidly.
