Prakash Ramadhar picked three deputy leaders of the Congress of the People (COP) Tuesday. They are Dr Anirudh Mahabir, Dr Lincoln Douglas and Anna Maria Mora.
Mahabir is an ophthalmologist who served at San Fernando General Hospital until 2000 and has performed free cataract surgeries for at least 1,000 citizens in Trinidad and Tobago. He has also travelled abroad on a similar mission.
He is the recipient of the Chaconia Silver Medal for Surgery. Mahabir is a founding member of the party and has served as Secretary, Finance.
Douglas in the MP for Lopinot Bon Air West and the Minister in the Ministry of the People and Social Development. He holds a Doctorate in Adult Education, a Master of Arts in Arts Entertainment and Media Management and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Christian Education and Mass Communication.
He has worked with Ministry of Social Development as a Senior Project Officer in the EU-sponsored Poverty Reduction Programme, and a Technical Director at the Ministry of Community Development. He has also worked with various Ministries.
Douglas has worked with the Government of Grenada as a Training Specialist at the Agency for Reconstruction and Development.
Mora is a Counseling Psychologist and trained teacher who holds Master of Arts and Master of Education degrees in Psychological Counseling from Columbia University in New York.
She is the founder of Mariama Children's Museum and Teen Turf which serves families in Arouca and surrounding communities. She has been honoured with the Order of St Clement and Order of Emancipation from the Parish of St Clement in Usine Ste. Madeleine.
She is a regular columnist and author of a book titled, "Parents, are you listening?"
Ramadhar also announced that Nirad Tewarie will be COP's new General Secretary. Tewari's father, Dr Bhoe Tewari, is the current Planning Minister. The younger Tewari is a founding member of COP and served as the party's first Communications Director.
He holds a Bsc in Mass Communications specialising in Broadcast Journalism and a MSc in International Relations from the University of the West Indies.
