IC chairman won't take part in probe of PM Kamla

The chairman of the Integrity Commission (IC) won't be a part of the commission's investigation into Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar’s stay at a private residence in 2010 and a $40 million NP contract.

Eric St Cyr confirmed on Friday that he has recused himself from the probe.

The opposition People's National Movement (PNM) has asked the IC to probe the Prime Minister. She has said she has no problem with any investigation because "my hands are clean and my heart is pure."

On Thursday Attorney General Anand Ramlogan called on St Cyr to ensure that he is not a part of the investigation after he produced the opinions of four prominent attorneys supporting Government’s claim the Prime Minister had done nothing wrong in the issue and the the IC chairman had displayed bias in his public statement about the matter.
