The Barbados-based no frills airline, REDjet, announced Friday that it has scrapped plans to operate flights between Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago. And it said it has postponed for another two months its service between Barbados and Jamaica.
The discount airline said the decision is because of what it called “ongoing regulatory delays” in Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica.
The airline sent emails Thursday to passengers who had booked flights advising them of the cancellation of service between the two countries and the delay in the other service.
The emails went out the same day that Air Jamaica and Caribbean Airlines (CAL) finalised their merger.
REDjet told passengers they would get a full refund.
“REDjet is extremely disappointed for all of our passengers and remains committed to fight to bring you the lowest fares,” the airline said in one of the emails.
REDjet operates a service between Barbados and Guyana, which got off the ground on May 10.
