High Court Judge Andre Mon Desir has postponed until Wednesday a decision on whether to grant bail to businessmen Ishwar Galbaransingh and Steve Ferguson.
The two men have been in jail pending a final decision on their extradition to the United States to face a series of charges in connection with the construction of the Piarco International Airport Development Project.
Their lawyers argued in court on Monday that circumstances have changed since the men were arrested and jailed and the men should be released on bail pending the outcome of their judicial review application.
Senior Counsel for the Attorney General, Avory Sinanan, argued that circumstances have not changed but he declined to say if the Attorney General will contest or support the bail application. He told the judge the Attorney General is a neutral party to the proceedings.
