Christmas message from TT's HC to London, Garvin Nicholas
As the sun sets on 2010, we prepare to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour and we reflect on the good and gracious blessings the Lord has shown us through the year, I would like to extend warm greetings to everyone this Christmas and best wishes to all for a Happy and Prosperous New Year, 2011.
This past year has been a mixture of challenges and opportunities for many of our citizens resident in Trinidad and Tobago and here in the UK.
Many continue to feel the effects of several measures introduced to combat the impact of the global financial crisis on our national economies. Yet, we as a people have admirably continued to work productively and with much determination to promote and to serve the best interest of our country.
As a result, many have continued to excel in their various fields of endeavour.
This year has also seen many political changes both at home and here in the UK.
At home there are now feelings of great expectancy and hope that all the societal ills will be corrected in a moment. That level of expectancy must however be tempered with the reality that even with best efforts change takes time. However, citizens can be assured that the issues that affect them most are at the top of the government’s agenda.
During this blessed season, let us continue to share the gift of God's love by giving of ourselves and by sharing generously with those in need and by seeking wisdom and patience to overcome those hurdles that stand in the way of our success as people and as a nation.
As we recite with pride our national motto “Together We Aspire, Together We Achieve”, let us resolve to build a future where countries far and wide will be inspired by us to live together in love, peace and unity; where our children will grow to be good role models and exemplars wherever they may travel; and where our hopes for the greater happiness of all and the honour and glory our country is finally realized.
Let me once again wish all of you the very best wishes for a very Merry Christmas and a Bright, Successful and Happy New Year.
H.E. Garvin Nicholas | High Commissioner, Trinidad and Tobago High Commission, London
