Another PNm jumps ship, joins People's Partnership

There was a lot of speculation all day Wednesday that Eddie Hart would desert the People's National Movement (PNM) and join the bandwagon of the People's Partnership.

But it didn't happen. Hart is sticking with the PNM under the leadership of Keith Rowley

However, there was another PNM member on the platform when the Partnership campaign moved into Tunapuna Wednesday night - Andre Maloney.

Maloney served as an elected PNM member in the Arima Borough Corporation from 2003 until the corporation was dissolved for the July 26 Local Government Election (LGE). Maloney also served as a temporary PNM Senator.

He told supporters after 20 years in the PNM he could no longer support the party. He noted that he went into politics to serve the people and his loyalty is to the people first, not a party.

Maloney said that is why he crossed over to the People's Partnership, which he explained is a party that is committed to service to the people of Trinidad and Tobago.

The former councillor made it clear that he received nothing from the People's partnership and that he wants nothing for changing party allegiance. He said he has found comfort in being a member of an organisation that is dedicated to service and that gives him the satisfaction he seeks.
