Rowley and a team from his People's National Movement (PNM) will meet with the Prime Minister at two in the afternoon at the office of the PM.
On Monday, Rowley announced that the PNM’s general council had mandated him to meet with Persad-Bissessar on the matter.
Rowley is critical of the system of recruitment and is opposed to giving the job to a foreigner.
The matter of the the CoP's appointment will be before Parliament on Friday. The government will move a motion to accept the recommendation of the Police Service Commission to appoint Neal Parker as police chief.
Parker is a Canadian who served with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) before moving to the Caribbean where he served in the police forces in St Lucia and Antigua.
