Jack launches Laventille Foundation Friday May 21

Jack Warner announced Tuesday night that he has made good on his pledge to launch a foundation in Laventille. He was speaking at a political meeting in Gasparillo.

On Monday, at a political meeting in Laventille, Warner announced that the foundation would help develop the sporting and cultural potential of the community.

The UNC Chairman said the legal papers have been drawn up and a secretariat has been put in place to deal with the business of the foundation, which he will launch on Friday, May 21 at St Barbs. He also said he would deliver on his promise to make "a substantial personal contribution" to the foundation.

Warner also announced that he has written to 27 countries and asked them to contribute to the foundation.

Warner also corrected an error he made during his speech Monday when he said the government of Trinidad and Tobago was using money from the Petroeloum Stabilization Fund to build a health centre in Montserrat.

It turns out that the money was being used to build a market.

He acknowledged that he made an error but at the same time he said it was at abuse of money. "What does it matter if it a market or a health centre," he said, adding that either way it is wrong.

He said the Manning government should be building a market in Marabella instead because charity begins at home.

Warner urged citizens to end the abuse of the country's resources by ending the Manning regime's reign on May 24.

He thanked the supporters who showed up for the meeting in Gasparillo but said nothing will change unless people vote on May 24.
