Winston Dookeran has dismissed suggestions from United National Congress (UNC) leader Basdeo Panday that there is collusion with UNC leadership candidate Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
Panday has suggested that Persad-Bissessar is a Congress of the People “vehicle” to remove him as UNC leader.
The COP leader told reporters Monday, “There is absolutely no ploy, nor would I be attempting to get involved in the internal campaigning of the UNC at this stage.”
He admitted that many COP members still hold UNC membership and he said some of them have said they are willing to vote in the UNC election.
"have no position to influence any vote in that matter, but it is the democratic right of individuals, and it is up to the integrity of that party’s electoral system to deal with that,” he said.
