He made the move Monday night at a public meeting in Biche.
Rambachan's support for the Siparia MP comes as the campaign swings into high gear, with Panday planning tio launch his campaign for re-election on Saturday.
Rambachan has been a confidant and staunch supporter of UNC leader Basdeo Panday and chaired most of the public meetings in the 2007 general election.
He and Chagunas West MP Jack Warner, who has also endorsed Persad-Bissessar, have been at loggerheads ever since Warner engineered his ouster as mayor and replaced him with political rookie Natasha Navas.
Speaking on Persad-Bissessar's platform Monday, Rambachan called her "dynamic and courageous" for challenging Panday for the party’s leadership.
He said the country is anxiously awaiting the result of January 24 internal election when Persad-Bissessar would be declared winner.
Rambachan said Persad-Bissessar stands for unity and predicted that once she is leader the UNC would attrack manhy new members.
"Only Kamla is the magnet for unity for all the people and where there is unity the PNM can never win an election in Trinidad and Tobago...She is a woman of grace, she is a woman of charm, she is a woman of great self respect and someone who your children can look up to and say ’there goes my role model’," Rambachan said.
He said she has demonstrated leadership in whatever position she held and nolted that the national community is sending a message to the UNC membership that Persad-Bissessar represents the hope of taking the party back into Government.
He also urged the people not to be sidetracked by vicious propaganda that would be levelled against her.
