Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar postponed her attendance at the wedding of Minister Stacy Roopnarine Saturday to tour areas affected by heavy flooding.
It's nothing new for Persad-Bissessar; she has always been a part of the First Response to natural disasters since taking office. On the day of her inauguration in 2010 she left the celebrations and toured flooded areas and immediately pledged to provide support and relief for the hundreds of families affected by the flooding.
On Saturday she did it again, accompanied by her cabinet colleagues, including National Security Minister Jack Warner, Works Minister Emmanuel George and Food production Minister Devant Maharaj.
She declared parts of north western Trinidad a Disaster Area and ordered immediate relief for citizens. The pictures below tell the story. Click here to view more pictures
