Olympic Gold for T&T

Gold medalist Keshorn Walcott
Trinidad & Tobago won its first Olympic Gold medal in the London Games with Keshorn Walcott, 19, taking the top title in the Men's Javelin event. It's the country's first Olympic gold since Hasely Crawford's winning 100m sprint in the 1976 Montreal Olympics.

Walcott threw a national record 84.58 metres with his second attempt. None of the other competitors was able to challenge his mark. Oleksandr Pyantnytsya of Ukraine was second with a throw of 84.51, and the bronze went to Antti Ruuskanen of Finland with 84.12.

Trinidad & Tobago's standing at the 2012 Games is at 47 with one gold and two bronze medals.
