Rowley wants Parliament recalled

Keith Rowley wants Parliament recalled immediately to deal with the demolition of the Highway Re-Route camp in Debe last week.

The Opposition Leader has written Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar asking her to reconvene Parliament to be reconvened to discuss the matter. He has copied the letter to President Max Richards.

Rowley's letter to the PM said: “The import of this matter is clear, deriving as it does from certain precedents in other less fortunate countries.” He added that he is “satisfied this is a matter that merits an early recall of the House of Representatives." 

Parliament has been prorogued in keeping with the provisions of the constitution. The third session of the Parliament is scheduled to begin in eight days, on July 11.
