The family found Nikita's body at the back of her father's Maracas Valley, St Joseph, home with her throat slashed. Nikita had three stab wounds to her chest, her throat had been slashed, her knees were skinned and she was found lying face up.
Police say the suspect is a 27-year-old Guyanese whose marriage proposal the young woman recently turned down.
