Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar leaves for Colombia on Thursday to attend this weekend's 6th Summit of the Americas.
Later in the year she plans to travel to South africa and China to promote Trinidad & Tobago.
In South Africa she will be a keynote speaker at a trade relations conference. She has invited the country's private sector businesses to send representatives with her on her overseas trips later in the year.
"We've been to Brazil, we've gone to India. We need to go to South Africa. We need to go to China, and indeed Russia maybe at some point," Persad-Bissessar said.
Minister of Finance Winston Dookeran will act as Prime Minister during the PM's absence.
The Prime Minister also told reporters that she is not planning a cabinet reshuffle. Media reports have speculated that she would make some cabinet changes after her return from Colombia. However she made it clear that no such move is planned for now.
Persad-Bissessar also commented on last weekend's opinion poll that suggested that a majority of respondents felt that her government is doing a good job.
