Gibbs will decide is surveillance aircraft will be used permanently: Sandy

National Security Minister John Sandy has received a verbal report on the Zenith CH 750 Air Scout Aircraft, leased by the Trinidad & Tobago Police Service (TTPS) for a three-month trial period.

Sandy told reporters Monday he expects a written report to follow, noting that from what he has heard the light aircraft has "worked well in the application that they used it on".

He said he could not say if there will be a full contract or the lease of the aircraft, noting that it is the "the prerogative of the Commissioner of Police."

However he said cost would be a deciding factor on whether the aircraft would be used by police on a permanent basis.

The TTPS leased the light aircraft from Trinidad and Tobago Air Support Company Ltd for a three-month evaluation period at a cost of TT$902,772.
