Duane O'Connor is 2012 Calypso Monarch

Duane O’Connor was crowned 2012 Calypso Monarch early Monday morning at the end of the Dimanche Gras show at the Queen’s Park Savannah, in Port of Spain.

O’Connor earned the $1 million first prize with his two songs: "The Hunt is On" and "Long Live Calypso". The 2010 monarch Kurt Allen placed second and last year's winner, Karene Asche finished third.

Roland St George, portraying "Ralliez-Vous A Mon Panache Blanc", was crowned King of Carnival; Queen of Carnival title went to Chariss Bovell, who portrayed "Mother of Humanity-The Weeping Madonna".
