Rowley claims blimp sold for TT$50,000, provides no evidence

Keith Rowley claimed on Monday that the government sold the national security blimp for TT$50,000, not US$50,000 as was reported in the media.

However the opposition leader did not provide any evidence to support his claim.

The Manning government had bought the airship for US$15 million. Rowley claimed that the Government put the blimp in the scrapyard "to reflect badly on the PNM.”

Rowley also called on Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar to return the Senior Counsil (SILK) title because she is not qualified to hold it.

“I think it is absolutely out of order for the Prime Minister to take upon herself the accolade of Senior Counsel from a miniscule law practice.

“Senior Counsel are for those who have displayed eminence at the bar. The Prime Minster does not qualify.

“I am calling on her to give it back or stand for the rest of her career accused of having an accolade she never deserved," he said.
