Businessman Hadeed is new chairman of Airports Authority

Businessman Gerald Hadeed is the new chairman of the the Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (AATT).

Transport Minister Devant Maharaj confirmed on Friday that Hadeed will replace Captain Vaman Bajnath. 


He said cabinet has approved a new board but the members would have to wait until next month to get their instruments of appointment.

"I think we have a dynamic chairman with a proven track record to really take us where we want to go," Maharaj told the Trinidad Express, added that the entire board has been reconstituted.

Maharaj is waiting to receive a cabinet minute with the names of the other members of the board before advising the new members of their appointment.


The Express said Hadeed has confirmed his appointment, adding that he is happy to make another positive contribution to the country.

Hadeed is the owner of Beacon Insurance. He has previously served on the boards of the National Gas Company, Phoenix Park Gas Processors and was also a director of the Unit Trust Corporation (UTC).
