State of emergency tally: 3,451 arrested

Police arrested 113 persons between 8am Thursday and 8am Friday, bringing the total arrests since the start of the State of Emergency to 3,451.

Police Public Information Officer, ASP Joanne Archie, provided the updated figures at Friday's media briefing on the State of Emergency.

Most of the people arrested in the latest sweep are being held for drug offences, outstanding warrants and fixed penalty offences. Police also siezed three firearms and 33 rounds of ammunition.

The breakdown since August 21:

  • Outstanding warrants: 892
  • Serious offences: 701
  • Traffic offences: 694
  • Drug offences: 648
  • Gang-related: 449
  • Enquiries: 375
  • Breach of curfew: 182
  • Other offences: 148
  • Homicide Investigations: 56
  • Firearms recovered: 115
  • Ammunition recovered: 12,363 rounds, 29 magazines
