OWTU boss threatens to "deal with government", give PM Kamla a "cuss out"

The President of the Oilfield Workers Trade Union (OWTU) on Saturday threatened to "deal with the government" and bust the "Kamlamania bubble".

Ancel Roget made the comments at a gathering of representatives from more than 20 trade unions at his union's head office at the Paramount Building in San Fernando. The meeting was a violation of the State of Emergency rules.

Roget threatened to give the Prime Minister “a cuss out” similar to one he gave her predecessor, Patrick Manning.

The labour leaders called the state of emergency an attack on free collective bargaining and charged that many people seem to be afraid of saying "anything bad" about the Prime Minister.

“We must deal with the Government in a decisive way," he said.

“The same way we are prepared to cuss out Manning, is the same way we should cuss out Kamla. The Prime Minister is no goddess. In fact she is far from it!” Roget declared.

He added, “If the Prime Minister is doing us bad, we must tell her to shape up or ship out.”

Roget told his labour counterparts he would prefer to be out of office than sign any agreement for five per cent.
