Attorney General Anand Ramlogan said on Thursday persons detained during the State of Emergency, especially gang leaders and gang members, will be separated while in jail.
Ramlogan confirmed that he has met with officials to discuss accommodation for detained persons and a committee has been established to deal with the logistics of detaining these persons.
"With representatives from the prison, police, army, Office of Law Enforcement Policy (OLEP) and the Ministry of National Security and of course that is to ensure that we have the capacity which we do at this time," the AG said.

"But given the success of the operations thus far, one anticipates that we will have to create and make space. I want to give the assurance to the national community that space will be made available to those who wish to visit the correctional facilities and the jails. Much space will be made available," he added.
"The organisation of the gangs is such that we have to separate the gang leaders from the gang members and we must also now separate the gangs themselves to ensure that those gangs that were at war do not come into contact with each other in jail itself. Or else we will replicate the problem there," Ramlogan said.

The Attorney General also commended the law enforcement personnel for the work they have done and continue to do under the state of emergency.
So far 315 people have been arrested.
