Can any of us imagine a reporter calling upon a High Court Judge or a magistrate who is about to be assigned a case to adjudicate, and asking the judge's opinion on the matter?
Can any of us imagine the judge or magistrate publicly stating, before the case begins, that the person charged was wrong in what they were about to be charged with in the court?
Can any of us imagine Mr. John Uff arriving in Trinidad and announcing, before the start of his Inquiry into UDECOTT that from what he had heard, Calder Hart had transgressed?
Or Sir David Simmonds, on being appointed to Inquire into July 1990, announcing that Patrick Manning and Basdeo Panday could be guilty of treason?
So, on what basis can Mr. Eric St. Cyr presume to rule on two matters within one year when no complaint had been formally delivered and no evidence heard? Does he not sit in a quasi-judicial chamber?
If the Chairman of the Integrity Commission cannot embrace the basic tenets of Integrity, then we have no Integrity Commission in this land.
