Jack congratulates Kamla for mobilising change, correcting wrongs in T&T

The chairman of the United National Congress (UNC) has sent a letter to his leader expressing his thanks to her "for being such a thoughtful, understanding and prudent leader of whom every citizen will be proud."

In the letter, which has been copied to his cabinet colleagues, Jack Warner said, "On May 24, 2010, the people spoke; you provided the opportunity for change; as elected officials you demanded that we serve the people and just one year later the future of our nation looks brighter."

He added, "In just one year, you mobilized our government to re-write the oppressive wrongs committed against our people of this beautiful twin Republic by previous administrations and for the first time in my own life time there is a sense of optimism that one has arrived who will ensure that the political, educational, social, and economic rights of all the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago are preserved.

"You have restored peace to a nation. You have reduced hatred in a society that was heading along the path of a failed State. You have brought hope to our people who were plunged into the abyss of abandonment and neglect.

"Where others have failed Madam Prime Minister in just one year you have succeeded and for this I wish to express my thanks.

"As a pillar of decency, responsibility and civic fortitude you have added value to our nation. No one, my Prime Minister, has done so much with so little in such a short space of time.

"It is out of respect therefore that I offer my thanks to you with the knowledge that your commitment is the quintessence of who you are and your industry is the signature of your excellence.

"So many thanks my friend, keep up the good work. You have raised the bar, you have set new standards and you have given new meaning to the phrase performance beats ‘ole’ talk.

"Congratulations on your first year as the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago and may God continue to richly bless you."
