Opposition Senator Fitzgerald Hinds sent a letter to the Integrity Commission Friday asking the commission to investigate Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar with respect to her stay at the private residence of Ralph Gopaul.
Hinds wants to commission to determine is Persad-Bissessar breached the Integrity laws and is therefore guilty of misconduct in public office.
The People's National Movement (PNM) Senator said in his opinion there are reasonable grounds to suspect the Prime Minister may have committed the common law offence of misconduct in public office.
Hinds said his attempts to verify that the Prime Minister stayed at the Gopaul residence after taking office was met with "obfuscation and outright refusal by the Government to answer simple and straightforward questions".
Hinds stated Leader of Government Business Dr Roodal Moonilal "finally admitted" on Tuesday that the Prime Minister occupied the residence at no expense, and the owner was her friend.
"I surmise, therefore, that this use, occupation or benefit was a gift from her friend, Mr Ralph Gopaul, within the meaning of the Integrity in Public Life Act, and if not declared, may be in violation of same," the letter stated.
He claims that Gopaul and Company has been awarded a $40 million contract from NP. Government and NP officials have denied that.

Howver Hinds is insisting that the contract has been awarded to the Prime Minister's friend's company. "I have reasonable grounds to believe that given the termination of the contract of the existing contractor/provider, a contract has, in fact, been awarded to Mr Gopaul or an entity associated with him," he said.
The Prime Minister has stated she has no problem with a probe by the Integrity Commission.

This man Hinds gets progressively more pathetic in his pronouncements, day by day.
If the Prime Minister had actually wanted to hide the fact she was staying in Tunapuna, right after the election, then she would have had a difficult time doing so later as so many of the media went there to film her and several if not all TV channels showed footage of that house, at that time.
So how hard did Hinds have to labour, and with what extraordinary skill, in order to have the Prime Minister "confess" to something openly in the public domain, and which she made no effort to hide, for nearly a year, now?
Something she has no reason to hide, anyway, as she did nothing in that matter to be reproached for, surely?
Hinds has assumed the mantle worn with pride by several others in the PNM over recent times.
The mantle which obliges "When there is nothing, absolutely nothing worthwhile or of value to say, shoot your mouth off anyway". Somewhere hopefully there will be a PNM supporter ready to assume it is meaningful.
He adds to parliament only to the extent that his clothes and hair are always impeccable. He makes the Red House look a little neater. That aside he is a waste of space and time.
