PM Kamla confirms some cabinet changes coming, no moves for senior ministers

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar said on Sunday she is going to make some cabinet changes to help improve the delivery of services to citizens.

She has already made one change. Starting Monday, Rudranath Indarsingh is moving to the Labour Ministry from his portfolio in the Minister of Works and Transport.

Speaking at the Rienzi Complex headquarters of her United National Congress she described the changes as "a redeployment of competencies."

The Prime Minister said, “There are a few more such moves to take place amongst ministers without portfolios in terms of aligning competencies as we see fit to take us forward in the delivery of services...We expect to see a few more of those.

“For example, in Finance we expect to give assistance to the Minister of Finance because there is only one minister there...Minister Dookeran said he will not mind getting two of them," she said, adding that the matter will be "sorted out soon.”

She has not yet decided who will be moving. “This is something I am addressing in my mind, but I have made no final decision,” she said.

However she was emphatic that she is not moving any of her senior ministers.
